Arstation Join Epic Games: What will change
Arstation announces today’s collaboration with epic games that can change the future of the art portfolio ecosystem. At first, everything would be the same. Epik acquires Arstation, but Arstation will “continue to operate as a branded platform independently.” They will also “collaborate closely with the Unreal engine team.”
Arstation will reduce costs for the Arts market – it’s a good thing. Fees will be dropped from a cost of 30% standard up to 12%. If the percentage decrease seems familiar, you may get used to a decrease in the cost for the software listed with Microsoft Store, or the Epic Games Store itself. It seems that epic will continue to lead allegations in reducing this standard costs that already exist in books for software hosting companies for a while – 30 to 12 for all!
Another good thing is that Arstation learning will be “free for all users for the remaining 2021.” After that, it might have costs – it would be very likely to have some kind of cost, but we don’t know how much
Although Arstation will be under the epic umbrella, this does not mean that the Arstation will change the way it supports all the Creator and Media varieties. Even an Epic Games statement suggested that “artists will continue to benefit from the unique platform of Arstation as they do today and Arstation will continue to support cross-media and genre creators – including those who do not use non-real machines.”
So it looks like this will be a relatively positive step for most people involved with Arstation. If you have used artstation in the past, you know there is a lack of application support through the application store – cross your fingers that this can fix it. You might also recognize that artstation is fantastic, but not close to the amount of use that should, given the benefits of competitors. It will also fix it – but we will see!
