Belgium announces 4-day work week; right to disconnect after office hours
Belgium has become the last country to announce a four-day working week.
The Belgian government on Tuesday approved a new work agreement to bring flexibility to a rigid labor market.
PM Alexander de Croo said the pandemic forced people to work more flexibly and combine their personal lives and work. “This has caused new ways to work.”
Employees who want to choose a new work regime will be able to work up to 10 hours per day if the union agrees, not 8 hours at this time, to work one day less per week for the same payment.
