China To Launch Crewed Mission Tomorrow To Build Space Station
Bejing: China will launch a spacecraft on Sunday bringing three astronauts to the core module of the unfinished Chinese space station, where they will work and live for six months because construction enters the advanced stage.
A long rocket March-2F carrying the Shenzhou-14 spacecraft was arranged to explode from the Jiuquan satellite launch center in West Gansu Province at 10:44 am local time (0244 GMT) on Sunday, an Outer Space Officer who was manned China told a press conference on Saturday.
Mission Commander Chen Dong will be accompanied by Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe above Shenzhou, which means “Divine Ship” in Chinese.
All preparations for the launch are basically ready,” said Lin Xiqiang, an agency official.
Shenzhou -14 will be the third of four crew missions – and seventh of a total of 11 missions – it is necessary to complete the space station at the end of the year.
China began to build a Tiga Module Space Station in April 2021 with the launch of Tianhe – the first and largest of three station modules.
Tianhe, slightly bigger than a metro bus, will form an astronaut residence that visits after the T -shaped space station is complete.
Following Shenzhou -14, the two remaining modules – the Wentian and Mrsian Laboratory Cabin – will be launched each in July and October.
Wentian will feature robot arms, Airlock cabin for trips outside the station, and residence for three additional astronauts during the rotation of the crew.
The crew Shenzhou-14 will help the regulation of Wondian and Mentipian and carry out functional tests on both modules.
Space station will have a decade designed age. With 180 tons, it will be a little heavier than MIR that is deactivated by Russia, and around 20% of the international space station based on Mass.
