Elon Musk says he was joking about buying Manchester United
Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, tweets on Wednesday that he was joking when he said that he would buy a Manchester United PLC English football club.
“No, this is a joke that has been running for a long time on Twitter (Nyse: TWTR). I did not buy a sports team,” Musk said, when asked by the user whether he was serious about buying a club.
About four hours earlier, Musk had tweeted: “I bought Manchester United UR (SIC) Welcome,” without offering any details. Some Manchester United fans, who were not satisfied with the wealth of their clubs which were declined lately, had previously urged Musk on Twitter to consider buying a club.
Tweet turnover came when Musk tried to get out of the $ 44 billion agreement to buy Twitter only four months after announcing on the platform he would buy a social media company, which had taken him to court.
Musk has a history of being unconventional and posting an impolite tweet, so sometimes it is difficult to know when he is joking.
“Next I bought Coca-Cola (Nyse: Ko) to re-enter cocaine,” he tweeted on April 27, two days after the Twitter council received his offer that was not asked to buy a company.
