PM Inspects Antiquities, Some From 9th Century, Returned By Australia
New Delhi: In a historic step, 29 antiques have been repatriated to India by Australia. This antiquities ranges from six broad categories according to the theme – Lord Shiva and its students, worshiping Shakti, Lord Wisnu and its forms, Jain traditions, portraits and decorative objects.
Antiquities comes from a different period of time, with the earliest originating from the 9-10 century CE.
It is mainly statues and paintings made using various sandstones, marble, bronze, brass and paper.
Representing the great geographical region in India, antiques originating from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has examined antiques.
In the catalog of antiques owned by the government, one of them – Shiva and its students – indicated as the 10th century belongs to the 10th century. The material is sandstone and as long as it is mentioned as Rajasthan.
In September last year, PM Modi brought back 157 artifacts and antiques from the US, where he and US President Joe Biden also expressed commitment to strengthen efforts to fight theft, dark trade and trade in objects.
