Police In China Catch Burglar Using DNA From Blood In Dead Mosquito
Police in China arrested a thief in an interesting way. They found dead mosquitoes in the house where theft had occurred and used blood stains on the wall to track it through its DNA. Burglar has trapped mosquitoes when leaving home, a report on the Global Times said. The robbery took place in Fuzhou, in Fujian Province, on June 11, according to the report.
The police said that when they arrived at home, they found that the door was closed from the inside and that the thief had entered the apartment from the balcony.
Quoting the police, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) said that the thief stole some valuables. The police also found that the man spent the night at home after finding some noodles and eggshells in the kitchen.
There are also used mosquito coils, along with two mosquitoes and blood stains on the living room wall, said SCMP.
Blood samples are extracted carefully by the police from the wall and sent for DNA analysis. The police confirmed that the DNA sample belonged to the suspect with the family name Chai who had a criminal record.
The news made some Chinese social media users entertained, who posted many comments on Wechat. “How dare he spends the night at the scene? This person really has a serious psychological problem,” commented a user, according to SCMP.
This is revenge from mosquitoes; I was wrong thinking that mosquitoes are useless, “said another.
The thief was arrested 19 days after committing a crime, said the Global Times in his report. The police can also find out that the man has been associated with three other theft cases.
