US President Joe Biden said he raised the 2018 Jamal Khashoggi murder with the crown prince. “I appointed it at the top of the meeting, explaining what I thought at the time and what I thought now,” Biden said in his speech after hours of meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince in Jeddah. “He said he was not personally responsible for that, and he took action against those who were responsible,” Biden said.
Al Arabiya news channel, quoting an unnamed Saudi official, said the crown prince told Biden that such an incident could occur anywhere.
Last year, Biden released an intelligence report showing that MBS had ordered operations at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul which caused the killings of the Washington Post columnist and Saudi Critics Khashoggi. But MBS was not approved because the White House quoted precedents about not imposing sanctions to foreign leaders.
