The airport line may be something from the past because TSA explores more advanced screening technology
It’s no secret that air travel can be a dizzying experience and frustrating can sometimes ask people to appear at the full two-hour airport before their flight. Part of the logistical nightmare comes from the fact that today’s security check – due to the 9/11 attack and Richard Reid’s 2001 attempts to blow up the American airline flights with hidden explosives in their sneakers – very boring and often produce a long line that moves with speeds snail.
There may be hope, however, on the horizon. According to a report from Bloomberg, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is currently exploring new checkpoint technology that can allow passengers to maintain fluids and laptops in their bags instead of removing it and check them separately.
New technology is said to rely on more sophisticated detection algorithms and 3-D images that will allow TSA employees to more precisely identify weapons, explosives, or other harmful substances even when tucked in luggage or embedded in electronic devices. This technology is called computed tomography (CT) and in addition to increasing the overall security, it will also speed up the check-in process.

This system uses the same technology that has filtered luggage registered for years. Given the condition of certainthreats, this CT system will allow passengers to leave goods, such as electronics and food, in their carry-on bag.
Unlike traditional X-Ray scanners, the CT inspection system produces a 3-D image that can be manipulated by TSO to get a better bag of bag content. As a result, the CT checkpoint system often allows TSO to delete items without having to open a carry-on bag, thus reducing the touch point (and delay) in the process.
TSA has begun to obtain this CT system for testing, and at certain points in the future, each screening post at the airport throughout the country is likely to have this improved scanning machine. Until then, the launch would be measured because TSA still looked into technology and had not made a company order for the machine.
The first launch of this CT machine will be reported 15 systems in a handful of airport throughout the country. If the initial launch is considered a success, the next order of 400 more machines will be made.
As an interesting place, five airports with the worst security waiting time in the US include Newark Liberty International, George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, Miami International, Baltimore-Washington International, and McCarran International in Las Vegas.
At the time of the trip, the waiting time in Newark Liberty International could be for one full hour.
