Windows 10 finally get AAC bluetooth audio support

Windows can be said to be the most widely used operating system in the world but there are things where they are still playing chasing others, especially cellular platforms such as Android and iOS. One area that has long been criticized is the handling of Bluetooth audio, both media itself and related accessories. Apparently, Microsoft finally chased behind with the next Windows 10 version which will eventually bring support for one popular audio codec and make a Bluetooth audio accessory less than the pain to be managed.

To be fair, Windows 10 naturally has support for more audio standard industrial codecs such as Bluetooth APTX but it’s not the only one around. On the other hand from the platform fence, Apple has adhered to sophisticated audio coding, perhaps better known as AAC, as a high-quality lossy codec for wireless audio streaming. Naturally, which has encouraged other services and audio device makers also support codecs, often at the expense of no platform.

The latest Insider preview for Windows 10, fortunately, brings hope for audiophiles. Only a small paragraph that introduces support for AAC codecs when streaming via Bluetooth. Of course, the implications of simple features are much bigger because it opens Windows 10 to more audio and headphone speakers.

Preview also reveals other required updates related to handling Bluetooth audio. In the next Windows 10 release, the platform will display several devices for the same device just because they have a different profile. Depending on which profile is actually used, it will only display one entry per device.

This is a small but important change that is intended to improve the quality of life of Windows users. That is the type of Polish updated Windows 10 May 2021 next, version 21h1, promised to carry. Large features, on the other hand, are expected to be the end of this year with what the release of “Sun Valley”, maybe also in time to debut Windows 10x.
