‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ on Netflix: Everything we know so far
2022 will mark a four-year anniversary when Netflix announces it has obtained the right to adjust the new chronic film and Series Narnia. Since then we have one main announcement and many things. Here’s all we know about Netflix’s Chronicles from Narnia’s adaptation on April 2022
Before we plunged into the involvement of Netflix ahead, let’s quickly look back what the book series and how it was adapted before.

What is the Chronic Narnia?
Let’s start with the basics. Tawarikh Narnia is a series of books from famous writers C.S.Lewis published in the 1950s.
The book series is a fantasy series that transports us to the realm of Narnia’s fiction. In total, seven books were published under the Chronicles of Narnia banners.
How chronic books Narnia has been developed before
This series has seen many adaptations over the years including the BBC series, radio series and of course, Disney films.
The biggest adaptation book series came in 2005 when Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media released the first film entitled: “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Wardrobe”.

Then released another film distributed under Disney with the third film distributed on the 20th century fox. The fourth film is planned but never materialized.
How and when Netflix prints the Narnia franchise
Netflix News Cooperates with C.S. Company Lewis fell back in October 2018.
Netflix has a “multi-year agreement” where it will have several film and series projects at first based on books Narnia exclusively.
Along with the original announcement, Ted Sarandos, who is now CEO CEO Netflix, said: “C.S. Lewis who is loved from Narnia’s stories has resonated with the generation of readers around the world,” adding “the family has fallen in love with character like Aslan and the whole world of Narnia , and we are happy to be their home for years to come. “
It was also released several times that Netflix would adapt Narnia to the universe, position the series to rise against people such as the throne game and the Cinematic Marvel universe though for more family-oriented audiences.

“Netflix will develop new projects and film projects based on C-Lewis who are loved by Chronicles of Narnia Series. Under the provisions of a multi-year agreement between Netflix and Lewis Company C.S., Netflix will develop classical stories from all Universe Narnia into series and films – films around the world.
All series and films produced through an agreement will become Netflix Productions, with Mark Gordon of Entertainment One (EONE) with Douglas Gresham and Vincent Sieber served as executive manufacturers for the series and as manufacturers for features.
The most important aspect of the Netflix agreement and what makes it more unique than what has happened before is that Netflix has access to the seventh book. This means that some of the subsequent books have never seen the previous adaptation can come to Netflix where the previous license owner has not been able.
We know (belonging to IMDBPRO) Yang Mark Gordon, Douglas Gresham, Vincent Sieber will be involved with most of the upcoming Netflix Narnia projects.
Matthew Aldrich became a “architect” at Universe Narnia for Netflix in 2019
Month after waiting for more information about Narnia on Netflix, finally, we got the news on June 12, 2019.
The news appeared that Co-Writer for Disney Pixar’s Coco, a multi-award winner, will work in Narnia. In Tweet, Netflix sees what the next account says:
“Coco Co-Writer Matthew Aldrich will function as a creative architect and oversee the development of all films and performances adapted from the University of Narnia Netflix C.S. Lewis”
In January 2020, Narniaweb posted that Douglas Gresham (Stepson of C. S. Lewis) had little knowledge about where Netflix with production.
Jordan Raynor: What’s the latest about this partnership between Netflix and C. S. Lewis Company?
Douglas Gresham: Yes, to be honest, I can’t tell you at all. We made a deal a few months ago and I haven’t heard the news since then. I mean, I was registered as a producer, but I didn’t hear the news about what they planned or how they planned to do it or when they planned to do it in this case. Seeing something, I don’t know whether Netflix is ready to shake this or not, but we will find out in time.
In June 2020, Narniaweb took Q & A with manager Matthew Aldrich who stated that the Netflix project would be carried out from the perspective of children said:
“Characters come from people’s understanding. Sometimes it’s about having children …
Matt Aldrich can write children now because he has children and he talks to them and he tries to find them. He runs his script with them and he throws them stories. When they were bored he cut it, when they were excited, he added it. The two children are testing rooms. ”
Since the announcement of the architect, it was very calm from Netflix because many planning entered various projects.
In January 2021, Scott Stuber who headed the Netflix film division told the New York Times that Narnia was between predicted projects to release “beyond 2021” which means that even though we can hear about projects this year, we do not expect liberation whatever.
Netflix France is one of several Netflix accounts to consistently recognize the events and films even with the last interaction on March 14, 2021.
The only update we have about Narnia since Netflix France acknowledged its existence was through the source for Narniaweb in August 2021 which told them that the titles were still under development.
Once again in 2022, Netflix France admitted that the development was still ongoing.
Where will the Narnia chronic start from Netflix begin?
Lions, witches and wardrobes are a natural starting point for Narnia but the witch’s niece’s book functions as a prequel that perfects the realm of Narnia and can make a more logical start to kick the universe with.

This would mean Netflix would adapt the books in the so-called “Harper Collins” order which would be the following:
- The Magician’s Nephew
- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
- The Horse and His Boy
- Prince Caspian
- The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
- The Silver Chair
- The Last Battle.
The guys at Narniaweb also speculated that their adaptations may be slightly darker. They specifically compared them to the Anne with an E series on Netflix which was much darker than the source material it is based on.
In a chat with Georgie Henley in April 2020, who played Lucy in the Disney franchise has said she’d be receptive of featuring in the Netflix reboot but confessed it’s probably unlikely.
What Narnia projects are in development
Thanks to IMDBpro, we’re able to see the first three Netflix projects involving Narnia via Matthew Alrich’s profile. Here are each of the projects and where they’re reportedly in development:
- Untitled Netflix/Chronicles of Narnia Series is reportedly the furthest in development with it entering pre-production reportedly back in October 2018.
- Untitled Netflix/Chronicles of Narnia TV Movie listed in pre-production as of October 2018.
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew (Treatment stage but expected to be an old project)
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair (this is the cancelled final Disney movie and therefore isn’t expected to go ahead)
Other Narnia News
- In January 2020, Narniafans posted that a new documentary was in development surrounding C.S. Lewis.
- In early 2020, several fan-made posters went viral on social media. For many, this was the first time many had heard Netflix is adapting the books.
